Nancy’s experience has been in the private and public sector in various STEM industries which is reflective of her degrees in Biochemistry and Environmental Science and training in front-end web development.
Nancy began volunteering with PMI-VI in 2009 shortly after completing PMI-VI's CEPS program and obtaining her PMP designation. She first started as the e-Newsletter Editor then Assistant Communications Director and was Secretary (the pre-cursor to the Operations Director position) until her departure in 2017 to further her education with a Master of Digital Media (MDM).
While at graduate school, she continued giving back to her local community as the SFU GSS Director of Internal Relations and Governance Committee Chair. As a multi-tasker, who packed her day, Nancy while being a full-time graduate student continued to volunteer with STEM organizations – Canada Learning Code, UVic Seniors Computer Program, Women Who Code, Vancouver VR Community – and completed certifications as a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). After completing her MDM degree, Nancy co-founded, with three of her classmates, Davos, a SaaS start-up for small- and medium-sized Canadian charities to grow online which won the 2019 Coast Capital Savings Venture Social Impact Award. She also completed AJ&Smart and Jake Knapp's Design Sprint Materclass Certificate acknowledging her capability in leading a team to create and test new product concepts in only 4 days.
As a life-long volunteer in the local community, she sees being the Operations Director, as a way to give back to an organization that has enhanced her project management knowledge through Chapter Dinner Meetings and Professional Development Conferences. She looks forward to assisting in the improvement and growth of the PMI Vancouver Island Chapter.
