Alan is an experienced leader, manager and environmental impact assessment (EIA) practitioner. He is an influential and innovative professional with a strong business acumen who displays diligence and good judgement in making decisions and resolving difficult situations.
Alan is a Project Manager and Senior EIA Specialist with Golder Associates in Victoria, BC. He has more than 25 years’ experience in environmental and engagement services throughout BC. He provides sound and informed strategic advice, and manages complex, multi-disciplinary projects subject to EIA review, permitting and approval processes. He is trained at facilitation and conflict resolution, and is familiar with the design, development and execution of consultation and engagement plans and processes to meet fiduciary and regulatory requirements. Prior to joining Golder, Alan spent 14 years with the BC Public Service, including nine years with the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BCEAO). His insights from senior regulatory roles and a successful consultancy provide the necessary experience and technical authority to provide leadership and strategic direction to EIA regulatory processes and programs, and to deliver high-quality environmental, consultation and engagement services for a diverse group of clients and target audiences.
Alan holds a B.Sc. (Biology) from the University of Victoria and an M.A. (Leadership and Training) from Royal Roads University. He also holds certifications in Conflict Resolution (Justice Institute of BC) and Public Participation (International Association for Public Participation). He attained his Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation in April 2018.
