Slav has over eighteen years of leadership experience in project management, landscape design and construction, and day-to- day municipal parks operations. He has significant background in planning, coordinating, and supervising of interdepartmental landscape and parks construction projects, complemented by a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. Slav has a proven ability when it comes to establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, cross departmental teams, sponsors, as well as external stakeholders such as the general public, community representatives, outside agencies, contractors, and consultants. He is committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning, to further advance abilities in creation of green infrastructure for healthier and more sustainable cities. Slav is currently the Parks Construction Supervisor for the District of Saanich where he manages and supervises parks construction projects, and provides leadership to staff in all aspects of daily operations. His prior professional experience includes six years as a Senior Project Manager and prior to that a Project Manager with the Integrated Infrastructure Services Branch – Landscape Design and Construction at the City of Edmonton and as founder and general manager of two successful and award-winning landscape design and construction and horticultural consulting companies.
Slav graduated with a Master of Science Degree from the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw, Poland. He has completed several project management and leadership courses in Edmonton and Victoria and received his PMP designation in 2014.
