Hélène is a professional engineer and project management professional with a passion for serving the community. She has been in management and leadership positions in the public sector for the past 15 years and has been working in the area of environmental protection and sustainability for over 25 years. Hélène has been involved in many initiatives that require working with multiple stakeholders and finding collaborative solutions. An effective team leader and builder, she sees project management is a way of bringing projects to fulfillment through communication and teamwork.
Hélène currently holds the position of Manager, Project/Quality Management at the District of Saanich, where she established the Project Management Office and has worked towards raising the level of project management maturity within the organisation. This involves developing project management resources, training and mentoring staff, as well as leading large multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. Hélène previously worked for the B.C. Ministry of Environment, where she held various positions related to developing and implementing policy and legislation in the areas of waste management, environmental protection, and sustainability. Throughout this time, Hélène held various leadership positions which included managing large programs with multiple projects and teams and implementing new, innovative approaches.
Hélène holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from McMaster University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. Throughout her career, she has received training in many areas including leadership, public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
