Our entire Chapter is operated by volunteers. All the valuable membership benefits it offers are due to the volunteers that contribute their time and expertise.

Volunteering Benefits

There are many benefits which can be gained from volunteering for your Chapter. Through volunteering you can meet other Project Management Professionals all over the world, learn and share experiences, and so much more.

Current Opportunities

Role: Volunteer Directors - We are seeking individuals to join our chapter as volunteer directors! Directors work closely with our VP positions to support the portfolio and ensure quality, timely, and professional services for our membership and community. 

Commitment: 5-10hrs a month (negotiable)

Example(s):

  • Membership Director - Supports VP Internal Relations providing service excellence to our chapter members, welcoming new members throughout the year, and supporting the needs/interests of our membership
  • Hours for Impact Rep - supporting our chapter in identifying opportunities to give back to our local and global communities, fundraising opportunities etc.

Call for Nominations 2023 - New Board Roles!

We are excited to announce a new structure with 8 voting roles. Our team has received counsel from PMI Global to reorient our roles based on PMI Chapter Leaders’ Guide: Chapter Volunteer Role Delineation Study Results - Fourth Edition published in 2022.

We have expanded to offer more leadership opportunities, while centralizing our voting positions to better align with PMI & BC Societies requirements.

The 6 roles in bold are OPEN for nomination in our 2023 election:

  • President
  • President Elect
  • Past President
  • Treasurer
  • Vice President, Operations
  • Vice President, Professional Development
  • Vice President, Internal Relations 
  • Vice President, External Relations
     

The NEW VP (Vice President) roles are larger portfolios that will contribute to the strategic vision of the Chapter - including forming/overseeing a team of volunteers to advance the priorities of each portfolio.

Nomination Screening

An active Board representative from the Nomination Committee will arrange a brief interview with candidates so that the nature of the commitment can be further clarified and personal suitability can be evaluated. Nominations will be accepted until the closing date listed below.

Biographies

Once your nomination has been accepted, you will be asked to submit a biography and photo to be posted on our website for members to review before voting, if voting is necessary. No vote will be required if the number of applications is equal to or less than the available positions. Check back frequently for further updates.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

What is the timeline?

The Call for Nominations will be open May 1-12th, and Elections will take place May 20th - June 4th with the New Board Announcement taking place at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 7th, 2023.

Can I submit on someone else's behalf?

Yes, you can submit someone for nomination - however please ensure that individual has reviewed the roles/responsibilities and consented prior to the submission.

Where can I find more information about the roles?

You can find detailed info on our website under the "Volunteer" Tab, or within the Call for Nominations Google Form.

I'm not ready for a Board role, but I would still love to volunteer. What other opportunities are there?

We are ALWAYS looking for talented folks - including for our Director & Manager positions! Once the new Board is established, we will be looking to fill various Director and Manager positions.

We also send callouts via our Newsletter, or on this page when we need volunteer support for events or programs.
