Topic: Benefits Realization and Why No One Cares About Your Project.
Speaker: Ritchie Hughes, PMP, CSM
Ritchie is a Project Management Professional (2008) and Certified Scrum Master who is passionate about projects, project management and change management—as the keys to success of realizing benefits (outcomes) and achieving organizational goals.
He works for the Ministry of Health’s IMIT Division as a Project Portfolio Manager for the Health Sector’s Digital Health Initiative (DHI).
Since joining the BC Public Service in 2007, Ritchie has helped establish project management offices in four different ministries, started the Project Management Community of Practice, for four years he was responsible for all PM training delivery and course design for all government ministries (and delivered training in many communities across BC) and conceived and led the successful Project Management Day of Learning. He has been involved in various project types including: training and professional development, IMIT, strategy development, project and organizational change management implementation and major procurements.
As well as projects and project management, Ritchie is also passionate about two other things—training, life long learning and riding or racing bicycles.
Since 2016 the Project Management Institute has embraced Benefits Realization as the new measurement of success in project management. On time, scope and budget were once this measure and no longer apply—or do they? If not, what has replaced them (hint: realizing benefits) and how do you achieve value in any project as PM or Sponsor? And learn how to say and embrace, “no one cares about my project; however they care about…”.

All participants hereby consent to the use of their likeness, including but not limited to photographs and videos, taken during the conference. Participants understand and agree that these photographs and videos may be used by the conference organizers for promotional and marketing purposes, including but not limited to website content, social media posts, brochures, and other promotional materials.
Participants further acknowledge that they will not receive any compensation or royalty for the use of their likenesses in the photographs and videos.
If participants wish to refrain from being photographed or filmed during the conference, it is their responsibility to inform the conference organizers in writing prior to the start of the conference. The conference organizers will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, but cannot guarantee that all photographs or videos will be excluded.
Participants release the conference organizers, volunteers, and any third parties acting under their authority, from any claims, damages, or liability arising out of or related to the use of their likeness in the photographs and videos.
